2004: THE YEAR IN ROCK

A lot has been happening this year. It's time to chronicle:

First, Sean Mou-Keefe has birthed a new era of goth-infused rock, and with it a new title for his own group, Murder of Crows. The band also features his betrothed Sheau-wha Mou-Keefe, and Attiss Ngo.

Meanwhile, Attiss has launched his own band, Triple Cobra -- a true San Francisco original, and probably the best glam-rock unit, in the world at present. If you thought glam was dead, you'll be pleasantly disappointed.

Eve joined up with Ken Kurita-Ditz to form a new wave/rock group called Foreign Telegram. The duo have proven a pop-songwriting powerhouse, and with the talents of Takuya Kawamura, Ryoichi Harada, Elena Charbila, and Ben Rosenberg, have recorded not 1, but 2 albums of material to be released in 2005.

As for SISTERSOUND, Eve continues in the tradition of left-field songwriting, and is currently finishing up 4 new songs with a radical new sound for SS. Also, plans are in the works to release an official SISTERSOUND cd during spring of 2005, called 'Dragging The Timepiece Heart'.

REFLECTIONS ON FATE, FAME, AND UNREQUITED GREATNESS

"The last times I ever saw Sean play, he seemed more like a rock star than ever before. He was thriving on obscurity. If fate was taunting him, he was sticking a middle finger right back." -- Jon Reed

A feature article on Sean Mou-Keefe, SISTERSOUND's multi-talented drummer since 2002, by John Reed. The tribute focuses on Sean, his prior band Dieselmeat, and the tangent life of a struggling rock journalist. It is as true a portrait of the 90's rock underbelly as you may ever see. Read it here.

ROCKSHOW CIRCUS HOOTENANNY AND DANCE PARTY. 11/24

We arrived at UN Plaza to play a generator show and were greeted by 3 stiltwalkers handing out Matt Gonzalez flyers. SISTERSOUND got a solid 5 songs out, playing to a throng of street punks, various urban youth, some of SF's homeless citizens, and more indescript audience members, all politically charged to get Matt Gonzalez into office as the San Francisco mayor. I'm always surprised by who comes up afterwards to thank or encourage us. Proof that there are open-minded people from all walks of life. Thanks to Rachel and Raini for getting us involved in this event, and to all the people who introduced yourselves to us, afterwards. It was a pleasure. More info on the schedule page. The vote for SF's mayor is December 9.

5 YEARS.

Rest in peace Peter Grothey. You were my best friend and will never be replaced. Pete's talent and legacy is featured on most of the music throughout this site.

GIRLS GONE WILD.

The Oct 16th show with Pussy Machine at the Eagle took place without incident of injury or police intervention. We'll try to provide a video clip of the action. Check back in a few days.

New photos from the Equality Now benefit party in San Francisco, where The Sort Outs performed as the sun set, followed by an emotional SISTERSOUND show at the edge of dusk. Thank you for bringing your camera, Sheau-wha. Also, thanks to Ruth for setting up this event to benefit women around the world, and for inviting us to perform. Find out more about Equality Now.
